Adventures in Babysitting

What a night! Last night the plan was to babysit Kross, Kobie, and Kaylee while Jackie went to "work." She said she was going to work so Kross wouldn't get mad, but she really just wanted to go out. The night was going really good...no fighting, no throwing fits, nothing. Kross's friend invited him over to spend the night at his house so then things got even better. Kaylee goes to bed really early and Kobie was unusually calm and just wanted to watch tv. Well, not too long after Kross left I got a call from Maryann asking if she could bring her 2 kids over to spend the night so she could go out too. They were just going to come over and go straight to sleep so I thought this would be fine. Boy was I wrong. It was Briley's birthday and they had gone to a party earlier so both the kids were all hyped up on sugar. Apparently hyperness is contagious in children because Kobie got hyper too. The hyperness eventually made its way into Kaylee's room and woke her up too. Right after Kaylee woke up Kross came home to get something and Kobie saw him which sent Kobie into orbit. I had told Kobie that Kross had to go to night school because he got a bad grade. This is what I get for lying. Kobie ran out the door and ran screaming down the street chasing Kross. I was standing on the porch with 2 screaming babies, yelling at him to come back. I can't believe the neighbors haven't moved yet. I finally got Kaylee back to sleep and tried to get the other kids settled down. I got Kobie and Briley in bed and was letting them watch tv for awhile while I got Bree to go to sleep. Bree screamed her head off forever until I finally let her get in bed with Briley and watch tv. Everytime I turned the tv off Bree threw a fit so I had to leave it on. They were all awake, but at least they were in one place and quiet. They finally fell asleep around 11:30 after many trips downstairs for water and to ask me random questions. While all this was going on I was trying to do laundry and somehow broke the dryer so my clothes were soaking wet when I went to take them out. There was nothing I could do so I put them back in my car to wash the next day when I could go to the laundry room. I couldn't go then because Briley sleep walks and I was afraid she would somehow get out of the apartment. As I was putting my wet clothes back in my laundry basket, I heard banging and yelling from upstairs. I went up there and Briley was out in the hall running into the wall over and over again and yelling for help. Her hair was covering her face and she looked like the girl from The Ring. She's really sweet but she kind of scares me when she's asleep. I was just getting ready to finally go to sleep around 1 and I heard someone knock on the door. It was some guy and Jackie. She was literally falling down drunk. She couldn't even stand up, I had to hold her while the guy took her shoes off and pulled 2 beers out of her pants. The guy went in the kitchen and Jackie said she needed to talk to me. She was telling me about how she used to like him and he cheated on her and all this not very nice stuff about him. She thought she was whispering but she definitely wasn't and the guy heard everything. I felt sorry for him but he stayed to take care of her anyway. I came home but ended up going back over there and letting the guy go home. I knew Jackie couldn't take care of the kids and I thought the guy would probably be freaked out by Briley and I didn't totally trust him anyway. It was really awkward and I ended up babysitting Jackie a little more than the kids, but I got through the night. I left early the next morning when Maryann came to get her kids.

I can finally see the end!

It's been a very stressful start of the semester, but things are looking much better now. I was really close to quitting school because of the stupid education department. They were telling me to start looking for a job because there was nothing else they could do for me. I spent my first few days back in town throwing up and planning my move to New Zealand. I don't really know if I was sick from stress or something else, but either way it didn't help the situation. Thanks to Ms. Overstreet and Dr. Dennis and the Dean being on my side the education people FINALLY (after 4 years of asking for this) let me change my minor to psychology. I only needed 3 more classes and they were going to make me quit school! I don't have to take any more stupid education classes or any summer classes! Yay!
